“Inclusion of The Informal Sector In Pension Scheme Will Solve Housing Affordability Gap” – Sonnie Ayere

As part of the Federal Government’s aim to bridge the housing affordability gap in Nigeria, appropriate inclusion of the informal sector of the economy in the contributory Pension scheme is a formidable plan.

In a presentation delivered at the just concluded Real Estate Unite 2017 Conference, Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Dunn Loren Merrifield, Mr. Sonnie Ayere posited that this will become a reality when PenCom (National Pension Commission) agrees to include a fund within its multiple funds program.

According to Ayere as quoted in a report published by Housing News, ‘including the informal sector in the Pension fund scheme will come with lots of benefits for the stakeholders. For the Government, that means significant increase in job creation, social stability, stronger Gross Domestic Product (GDP) earnings for the economy, promotion of home ownership culture and general wealth creation for citizens’.
